VES & VL Batteries for satellites
Saft cylindrical VES and VL rechargeable cells are based on lithium-ion chemistry. In addition to unrivalled nominal capacities and long cycle-life, their most innovative feature is the ability to be charged and discharged for mission durations up to 18 years with very low degradation figures due to the nickel based oxide properties. The VES lithium-ion batteries have already demonstrated ground operation of over 15 years and close to 10 years in orbit with excellent performance. These typical cells cover all range of satellite applications from GEO stationary telecommunication satellites, LEO and MEO.
